4 Factors That Affect Your Dental Implant’s Cost
September 16, 2022
If you’ve had missing teeth for a while, you might be eager to get dental implants. After all, these tooth replacements can restore your full smile! Still, you’ll want to confirm the price of your implants to ensure cost-effective treatment. It turns out, though, that dental implant cost depends on several factors; knowing the former thus requires knowing the latter. Luckily, your Azle dentists have the solution. Read on to learn four factors that’ll impact the final cost of your dental implants.
Number of Implants Placed
As you might’ve guessed, the treatment’s price partly depends on how many implants you get. The cost will rise accordingly with each one you add to the procedure.
This is a fine tradeoff if you only need one, two, or three implants. However, you may want to try an alternative if you’d get more than three. In that case, a denture or bridge would be a more affordable option for replacing several teeth. You could also try implant-retained dentures.
Location of Your Tooth or Teeth
As it turns out, implant location will impact your expenses too.
Take front teeth, for example. These pearly whites are usually more expensive to replace, as they require more care to match the angle of your jawline.
Even so, remember that every mouth is different. Even so, remember that every mouth is different. You could have front or back teeth that are cheaper to replace than expected.
Implant Placement Type
When it comes to placing dental implants, there are two types: single-stage and two-stage. Which one your dentist chooses to use will influence treatment cost.
The single-stage type only takes one surgery. In it, a dentist places a longer-than-usual implant with its head exposed. After you heal from the placement, they can attach the crown without creating a new incision.
For the 2-stage type, a dentist places the implant and stitches over the incision. They will perform a second surgery to install the abutment three months afterward. A 2-stage type is thus fairly rare, often only done when a bone graft needs to be performed.
Your Overall Oral Health
In the end, dentists will not place a dental implant until your mouth is healthy. As such, they’ll have you treated for any other serious oral health conditions first. These procedures, along with extra precautions for the implant placement itself, will add to your bill.
If you discuss the factors above with your dentist, you’ll get a good idea of your dental implant cost. From there, you can choose a treatment option that works for you!
